Weekly Learning Review - Week Ending: 14.06.2018

Weekly Learning Review
Class:   FS2                                                     Week Ending: 07.06.2018
Communication and Language and Literacy
Our story this week was ‘The Enormous Turnip’ we had fun drawing the characters in the story and using our sounds, we did our best to label all the characters we drew. We also practised ordering our story into a beginning, middle, and an end.  In addition to this, we had to describe our characters by how they looked, while our friends used these clues to guess the character we had in mind.  This week’s phonics lessons continued with the review of all the sounds we have covered so far and we continued practising how to use these sounds to both write and read words.
Physical Development
This week, we continued developing our fine motor skills. We traced both of our hands all by ourselves. We did our best to do this with a smooth and continuous line. It was not as easy as it looked! We practised writing on a straight line as well as making sure our letters were properly formed and oriented. During PE, we had enjoyable time catching and throwing a ball, and on the playground we had all our usual fun. We climbed, we ran, we hopped, we dug up sand, we jumped and so much more. We are getting stronger and stronger day by day!
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
This week, we focused on the importance of personal hygiene and good manners. We looked at proper sneezing and coughing etiquette.
Understanding of the World  Around Us
The question this week was What are germs? We discussed the importance of good hygiene and how it reduces the spread of germs. Did you know that viruses and bacteria are names of germs that we can get when we don’t keep clean?
Mathematics
We counted to 50 and we continued with our focus on addition and subtraction (within 10) and telling the time (O’clock).
Expressive Art and Design
This week we took turns to role play the different characters in the story, some of us took on the role of a farmer while others took on the role of the little old woman and the other animals.  We also created a poster with the hands we traced to remind us to always use tissue when we sneeze or cough.
