Weekly Learning Review 28 January 2018

Weekly Learning Review

Class:   FS2         Week Ending: 16.11.2017
Communication and Language and Literacy
This week, we focused on the sounds /l/ and /f/. We also practiced our blending skills using familiar sounds. This week we encouraged blending and creation of CVC words within the / an/ family; words such as man, can, pan and fan.
High frequency words for this week – ( an, my, was, to, are)
The Gruffalo was our focus story for this week. We worked on using describing words to describe how the animals looked and moved; words such as slither, stomping and swooping!

Physical Development
This week, we focussed on cutting straight lines with scissors. We continued developing our gross motor skills by moving like the animals we observed and read about in this week’s story.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
We focused on ‘Respect’ and looked at showing respect to one’s self, others, and property.
Understanding of the World  Around Us
We looked at forest animals and we focused on spotting similarities and differences between them. We found out that some eat grass while some eat meat; some have fur while some have feathers.
We continued with our focus on addition, and we looked at numbers before and after a number. We also practiced reciting the numbers 1-30 as well as counting objects within 20 and  beyond.
Expressive Art and Design
We cut and stuck different coloured paper together and created our very own forest animal. We made a hedgehog! We also made our own musical beat to go with the movement of the animals in the story. We decided that the Gruffalo would make an extremely loud slow beat!J
